4th June 2013 – WEALD & DOWNLAND OPEN AIR MUSEUM

4th July 2013 – River trip on the Princess Pocahontas from Gravesend to Vauxhall Bridge and back with lunch on board.

6th August 2013 – Visit to Bateman’s

August 2013 – trip to Chichester Festival Theatre to see Barnum

10th December 2013 – visit to Winchester Cathedral and Christmas market – this was a very successful trip and enjoyed by all.

7th January 2014 Pantomime –  to see Aladdin at the New Wimbledon Theatre – an entertaining day, this was linked to the following MDFAS lecture which elaborated on the history of pantomime.  The history of pantomime has a much deeper meaning than just a Christmas treat for children.

4th March 2014  Cheapside Hoard

Our day started with a lecture informing us about the Hoard, how it was found and included slides of many of the objects found.  We then visited the Hoard a beautiful display of delicate objects, in excellent condition, showing the amazing skill of the goldsmiths art.  A most enjoyable and instructive day out.

23rd May 2014  Wallace Collection

32 Members attended and proved to be a very successful  and interesting trip

June 2014 Sculpture Park

This visit was on the 18th June 2014 and was enjoyed by all.

25th Anniversary Celebrations

This year is the 25th anniversary of the founding of Malling DFAS.  We are furtunate to have many of the founding Members still active within the society.  To celebrate the event we will be holding a Tea Party with a musical interlude on Tuesday 12th August 2014 at 3.00p.m.

Rembrant’s later years were turbulent and marked with controversy, but they also produced some of his most soulful, deeply moving and strikingly modern works

The Stag Community Arts Centre at Sevenoaks have announced a new selection of screenings including live broadcasts from Glyndebourne, the Royal Opera House and the National Theatre.  They will be showing a comprehensive selection of opera, Shakespearean and other drama.  Visit their web page at Stag Sevenoaks.

The Winter’s Tale currently running at the Garrick Theatre until 16th January 2016. Starring Dame Judi Dench and Sir Kenneth Branagh will be broadcast live to cinemas 26th November 2015.  Visit www.picturehouses.com for more information.
