Ryarsh Church

Ryarsh Church

Malling DFAS Church Recorders have recorded three churches to date, St. Peter and St. Paul, Trottiscliffe; St. Michael, Offham;  and St. Martin, Ryarsh.   The church of St. Mary the Virgin, West Malling, for all intents and purposes is now finished.   This is a Norman foundation with a substantially original Chancel, a partly Norman Tower and an early 20th century Nave.   The cost of rebuilding was largely met by the sale of a Tudor Delftware jug at auction in 1903 for over £1,500 in the currency of the day.   Among the church’s notable features are the Jacobean chest tomb and windows by Kempe and Co.

The Malling Group meets every other Thursday from 10 am until midday, between March and the end of November.     Training will be given to all new recruits.   Anyone who is interested in joining our Group should contact Clare Graham.

The group have now started recording St Margaret’s Church, Addington.
