On Wednesday 24th June 2015 – 33 members visited Godinton House and Gardens. Arriving for coffee and biscuits, we were divided into three groups and given an excellent tour of the house by very knowledgeable guides. The house has remained in the same family since the 1600 and each of the rooms shows the changes made by each generation. Through its 600 years of history the Toke family and their descendants, have amassed a fine collection of furniture and porcelain. The last owner of the house was Alan Wymondham Green.
We were given a delicious lunch and then explored the beautiful gardens .Well tended parkland, rose gardens and the walled area where the delphiniums and sweet peas were a delight.
On leaving Godinton House, we visited Willesborough Windmill for delicious cake and a welcome cup of tea, completing an excellent day out.
